About Little Gem

Completely renovated in 2024, in the most central part of the island, in Gialos, just 15 minutes from the port. The property is located on the 1st floor of a neoclassical building, and is accessible by an external stone staircase. With a special history, as for many years it was the first silversmith’s workshop on the island, where precious and elegant jewelry was manufactured for the goldsmith’s shop that operated on the ground floor.

After 15 min. walk from the port, you go up through a small stone external staircase with about 12 steps leading to the 1st floor where the property is located. Υou reach the level where the space is located that will host you with love and make your stay in Symi unforgettable.

Our History

This historic building constructed in 1894 by my great-grandfather Paraskevas Chrysochoos, stands as the island’s inaugural jewelry shop and workshop. Renowned as Symi’s premier goldsmith, Paraskevas Chrysochoos bestowed upon our family the surname reflecting his profession (Chrysochoos meaning Goldsmith). Within these walls, every piece of jewelry was meticulously conceived and crafted, carrying forward the legacy of my great-grandfather through the dedicated efforts of his four sons. For those intrigued by our family’s heritage, a visit to the Folklore, Historical, and Commercial Archive of Symi awaits, conveniently located just five minutes from the building. There, the workshop’s cherished artifacts and equipment, generously donated, find a new home, where they are thoughtfully displayed for all to appreciate.
